Year 11 · Maths mocks · Live on Zoom

Year 11 students aren't bad at maths, they often don't know how to check their answers properly. Let's fix that before the mocks.

Having worked with dozens of resit students as well as hundreds of year 11s, I'm bringing the tactics and exam strategies that have helped my students get a grade 4 or more in their final exams. Six live Tuesday evenings with me on Zoom, where we build the habits that will bring success to your child.

What a place includes

  • Six live group sessions with me on Zoom, Tuesdays, 6pm to 7pm UK time, running every week for one hour.
  • A recording of every session, so a week they miss or a bit that went too quickly is always there to refer back to.
  • Full access to the Bow Tie Maths platform for the course and on through to the end of November.
  • A target of 70 questions a week which will help secure the taught knowledge.
  • A progress report to you every Wednesday and access to the parent dashboard so you can see their individual grades.
  • Two sessions built around the CASIO FX-991CW, because knowing that calculator properly I believe is worth at least one grade (and it helps with Physics too!).

What parents say

★★★★★

My daughter is in year 11 and was really struggling with maths. Since starting her sessions with Rob her understanding of maths has improved and she is enjoying her maths class at school more. She has learnt new methods and feels more confident in herself and tackling new maths questions.
Sabrina, parent of a Year 11 student in my group sessions

★★★★★

My daughter is loving these sessions. The big thing she likes, in her words: "He's teaching us things I was never shown in school, specifically the calculator work… I feel slightly more confident already." I get regular communication via email which is very supportive.
Sam, parent of a GCSE resit student

★★★★★

He was brilliant, supportive and understanding helping her with the mistakes she made in her exam and gaps in her knowledge… He went through her exam papers from her school and recommended what we needed to do.

Who this is for

Year 11 students working towards a grade 4 and above, sitting Foundation or Higher, with mocks in November or December. If your child is below a 4 at the moment they will get a great deal out of the strategies and the calculator work, and if they are already comfortably above it the techniques can still really help.

Who it is not for

It is built around the November mocks, so it suits Year 11 rather than the younger year groups, and it is pitched at making some quick improvements. If you are looking for longer-term preparation for the summer, my Thursday group, with its weekly routine and accountability, may be a better fit.

Book your child's place

Know which email your child uses for Bow Tie Maths? (optional)

I will ask about their exam board, tier and current grade once you have booked.

My refund promise

If your child comes to the first four sessions, does their questions each week, has the calculator with them and they still do not feel they have significantly benefited from my techniques and strategies, message me any time up to 3 November and I will refund the full £180.

What your child will need

A CASIO FX-991CW calculator, if they have not got one already. Two of the six sessions are built around what this particular calculator can do, and knowing it properly is worth marks on its own.
